On Routing Algorithms with End-to-End Delay Guarantees

چکیده
We consider the transmission of a message of size r from a source to a destination over a computer network with n nodes and m links. There are three sources of delays: (a) propagation delays along the links, (b) delays due to bandwidth availability on the links, and (c) queuing delays at the intermediate nodes. First, we consider that the delays on various links and nodes are given as functions of the message size. If the delay in (b) is a non-increasing function of the bandwidth, we propose O(m 2 + mn log n) time algorithm to compute a path with the minimum end-to-end delay for any given message size r. We then consider that the queuing delay in (c) is a random variable correlated with the message size according to an unknown distribution. At each node, the measurements of queuing delays and message sizes are available. We propose two algorithms to compute paths whose delays are close to optimal delays with a high probability, irrespective of the distribution of the delays.

Wireless body Area networks (WBANs) include a number of sensor nodes placed inside or on the human body to improve patient health and quality of life. Ensuring the transfer and receipt of data in sensitive data is a very important issue. Routing algorithms should support a variety of service quality such as reliability and delay in sending and receiving data. Loss of information or excessive da...
متن کاملQoS Routing with Performance-Dependent Costs
We study a network model in which each network link is associated with a set of delays and costs. These costs are a function of the delays and reflect the prices paid in return for delay guarantees. Such a cost structure can model a setting in which the service provider provides multiple service classes with a different price and delay guarantee for each class. We are given a source node s, a s...

Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANETs) is a novel technology that has recently emerged and due to its swift changing topology and high mobility nature, it has become problematic to design an efficient routing protocol in VANETs’ amongst both moving and stationary units. Also, the existing routing algorithms are not very effective to satisfy all requirements of VANETs. This paper explores the need o...
